Italian sports car features engineering plastics bodywork

Pininfarina SpA of Turin, Italy, has produced a car with a three-cylinder, two-stroke engine and with bodywork moulded in GE Plastics' 'Noryl GTX' resin, a blend of polyphenylene oxide (PPO) and nylon. Pininfarina's 'Ethos' two-seater was launched at the recent Turin motor show. It involved close collaboration with the engine maker, Orbitel, and with Goodyear and GE Plastics. GE agreed to engineer and prototype nine different exterior panels including the doors, fenders, bumpers, rear quarter panels and extended sill panels.
