PLANTS AND OUTPUTS - GE trims its materials portfolio
High Performance Plastics, October, 1994
Despite planning to introduce at least ten material grades by early next year, GE Plastics, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA, is considering cutting back its roster of materials grades. Vice-president and general manager, Jeffrey R. Immelt, says GE will redesign its engineering plastics portfolio over the next three years, reducing the number of grades by about 40%. It hopes to develop more robust polymers that cut across a wide band of performance applications, and aims to combine existing similar grades, reports Plastics Technology.
