GREENPEACE ATTACK ON PVC IS SHORT ON FACTS.

The latest attack on PVC by the environmental lobby group Greenpeace is short on facts, claims the PVC industry lobby group, European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers. Greenpeace has welcomed the news that the US Association of Post-consumer Plastic Recyclers (APR) has judged recycling of PVC bottles as not a viable option. The environmental group sees this as a setback to claims put forward in Europe that PVC can be recycled, repeating its contention that technical and economic difficulties mean that recycling of PVC will never be able to deal with more than a few per cent of the waste generated.

It quotes APR as concluding that PVC bottles have no place in post-consumer plastic bottle recycling, stating that it is a major contaminant in plastic waste streams...
