Basell and ConocoPhillips in PP agreement. (Company News).

Dutch PP maker Basell and ConocoPhillips of the USA have signed an agreement under which Basell will become the exclusive purchaser and marketer of PP resins produced at ConocoPhillips' new Bayway plant in Linden, New Jersey, USA.

The 350 million kg a year (775 million pounds a year) plant is scheduled for startup in early 2003, and will produce a range of PP products, including homopolymers and random and impact copolymers.

Basell, a 50/50 joint venture of BASF and Royal Dutch/Shell, is said to be the world's largest producer of PP. The new agreement will increase the amount of PP Basell sells in North America to more than 1.8 billion kg a year (4 billion pounds a year).
