DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, USA, is set to introduce a range of modifiers (brand name: Entira) that are suitable for a wide variety of polymers.
The first product in the DuPont line is an antistatic grade, Entira AS. Developed by DuPont-Mitsui Polychemicals Co Ltd, a joint venture between DuPont and Mitsui Chemicals Inc of Japan, the modifier can be high frequency welded and has high moisture permeability. Typically, less than 40% by weight of Entira AS is needed in a polymer compound to achieve the desired benefits, the company says.
Moreover, DuPont says that, compared with surfactants that are commonly used as antistatic agents for plastics, the grade provides permanent antistatic properties with little bleeding. It also has excellent...
