Low pentane expandable PS.(MATERIALS)

Huntsman Corp, USA, has introduced an expandable PS (EPS) that contains an average of 3.6% by weight of the blowing agent pentane--well within the parameters of the emissions standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Applications include insulation, roofing, geofoam and packaging. When properly moulded, it meets all ASTM C-578 criteria at applicable densities, the company says.

Huntsman's range of EPS products is produced in the form of small beads with sizes ranging in diameters between 400 [micro]m (0.4 mm) and 1600 [micro]m (1.6 mm).
