PA 12 receives certification for offshore pipelines.(APPLICATIONS)

A PA 12 developed by Degussa AG, Germany, has been the first resin of its kind to be approved by Lloyd's Register for use in the manufacture of non-bonded flexible pipes for offshore applications.
The PA 12, Vestamid LX9020, which is primarily used for pipes that transport offshore production and injection fluids used by the oil industry, underwent two and a half years of tests to receive the API 17 J "flexible risers" norm and EN ISO 13628-2 certification.
Unbonded flexible pipes have a multi-layered structure of helically wound metallic wires and tapes, and extruded thermoplastics. A plastic shield protects the steel layers from external salt water corrosion and is used internally as a barrier against the aggressive corrosive fluids being...
