Nanogel/PU pipe-in-pipe system.(APPLICATIONS)

Cabot Aerogel, a business unit of Cabot Corp, and Corus Tubes, a division of Corus, both USA, have introduced an insulation pipe for use with high pressure high temperature (HPHT) applications. The system is insulated with a silica aerogel using nanotechnology (Cabot's Nanogel) and PU foam.

Aerogel is a hydrophobic silica produced as particles each of which consists largely of air (around 95%) contained in nano-sized pores, which severely inhibit heat transfer through the material.
