Charter rethinks Microsoft software for set-top box.

Charter Communications officials said they will delay deploying Microsoft's interactive TV (iTV) software as part of the company's TV set-top box.

Officials at US-based Charter said the company had halted the implementation for now because of a change in the type of set-top box and direction of the project after the first trial, but noted that the Microsoft product still is under consideration for the new phase.

The cable company, which plans to roll out its TV box in the autumn, said it shifted gears after speaking to potential customers about what they want from the product.
