Nintendo's new president, Satoru Iwata, appeared to dismiss the short-term prospects for online gaming, saying that demand from consumers is not there and the current technology is inadequate, according to reports from the Financial Times.
Online gaming "is not yet at a point where online games can become a mainstream business. The infrastructure is not yet fully accessible," the newspaper reported Iwata as saying to industry analysts. "We never said on-line games will never happen. But we don't think it will happen tomorrow."
Iwata's comments come at a time when both Microsoft's XBox live internet service and Sony's Playstation2 games console are pouring...
