NAW comments on OSHA proposal.(National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration)(Brief Article)

Supply House Times, March, 2000

The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors has submitted written comments in opposition to the "Ergonomics Program" standard proposed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

"It has been the experience of our members that while ergonomics principles are useful, they have not evolved to the point that a generalized approach on methods of evaluation or control can be developed," said Dirk Van Dongen, NAW president.

Van Dongen said the public comment period for the proposal was inadequate and the proposed standard was too vague. He took specific issue with the proposal's work restriction provision. The full text of NAW's written comments can be found at www.nawpubs.org/ergo.html.
