The Canadian government selected the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium to help increase the market in Canada for geoexchange or geothermal heating and cooling technology. The three-year initiative is designed to accelerate the use of geoexchange throughout Canada.
The GHPC -- in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, electric utilities, equipment manufacturers and other businesses -- has been instrumental in increasing the sale of geoexchange systems in the United States by an average of 20% each year since its creation in 1994.
