Canada, U.S. launch energy initiative.(Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium to promote geoexchange technology)(Brief Article)

The Canadian government selected the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium to help increase the market in Canada for geoexchange or geothermal heating and cooling technology. The three-year initiative is designed to accelerate the use of geoexchange throughout Canada.

The GHPC -- in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, electric utilities, equipment manufacturers and other businesses -- has been instrumental in increasing the sale of geoexchange systems in the United States by an average of 20% each year since its creation in 1994.
