We lost our long term friend and leader, Jay W. Fidler, on October 31, 2007. He was 85 years old, and died of complications from a fall.
From humble origins in Brooklyn, New York, Jay was awarded a scholarship to Brown University, which he attended from 1939-1943. As a scholar athlete, he was a first team All New England tackle, and Honorable Mention All American who started for the North in the Christmas, 1942 Blue-Gray game. He also lettered in baseball and was inducted into the university's Hall of Fame in 1992. As a trustee of Brown from 1969 to 1974, he championed a first of its kind relationship between Brown and Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi.
