US: The research team responsible for StriVectin-SD, the stretch-mark cream with anti-wrinkle applications, has developed a cosmeceutical to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.

Called Hylexin, it is distributed by Basic Research in the US, and was launched exclusively at Bloomingdale's in April. The roll-out to other department stores and cosmetic retailers is underway. It is priced at $95 for a 0.78oz tube.

According to its manufacturer, Bremenn Research Labs, dark circles are the result of a breakdown of haemoglobin in the capillary matrix around the eye.
