820 Gigabit Backplane Speed: Metro-Optix Santa Clara, CA www.metro-optix.com.

Fiberoptic Product News, May, 2001

An independent test laboratory and a third-party supplier have both validated that Metro-Optix's CityStream bandwidth manager system achieves a backplane bandwidth capability of 820 gigabits per second (Gb/s), making it the current best in its class for metropolitan optical networking equipment.

The tests were conducted at the National Semiconductor laboratory and at Litton Interconnect Technologies. The test results dramatically conclude that CityStream -- a pure, protocol-agile bandwidth manager -- can achieve a backplane speed that will groom more than three times the number of STS-1s, or DS3s, than leadingcompetitors. (Other systems considered state-of-the-art today claim no more than 480 Gb/s.)
