Outokumpu EcoEnergy Oy, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Finnish metals company Outokumpu Oy, sold its environmental technology business during May, in a management buy-out (MBO) to Eco Technology JVV Oy. The main business of Eco Technology will be the design and supply of municipal and hazardous waste treatment plants based on technologies developed by Outokumpu. The MBO was supported by the Finnish state-owned Start Fund of Kera, and OKO Bank. The technologies offered by the new firm include: waste fermentation, pre -treatment of municipal and hazardous wastes, and rotary kiln cooling (see HAZNEWS, November 1992, p. 9).
