Kobe Steel & ABB sign kiln agreement

Kobe Steel Ltd., the Japanese steel and engineering firm, has signed a license and technical assistance agreement with ABB Raymond, the US combustion systems subsidiary of ABB AG, the Swiss engineering and technologies firm. ABB Raymond's technologies for rotary kilns, secondary combustion chambers, kiln feed preparation and feeding systems, and wet ash drag systems are covered under the agreement. Kobe Steel engineers are to receive a "comprehensive" training programme under the agreement, which will remain in force "well into the next century".
