New Hampshire shop completes trash-facility upgrade on tight schedule: Northeastern Sheet Metal of Goffstown, N.H., has long prided itself on successfully completing not only the routine spiral-duct jobs, but also the unique and most difficult challenges.

Fire recently destroyed the odor-control exhaust system of a West Wareham, Mass., trash-burning facility. Northeastern's challenge was not only to upgrade the system, but also to comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations and fit the whole project into a 60-day window.

The complete project was fabricated using Type 304 stainless steel. Spiral ductwork consisted of 18-gauge steel in 60- and 48-inch diameters. It was fabricated in 16-foot lengths with intermediate angle rings that were required to meet strict pressure requirements.

EPA regulations required the system to meet negative 18-inch water gauge ratings.
