CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON BATCH ANNEALING PROJECT.(California Steel Industries Inc.)(Brief Article)

Construction started at California Steel Industries, Fontana, CA, for the second phase of a batch-annealing consolidation project. The second phase includes 12 hydrogen-annealing bases purchased from Rad-Con Inc., Cleveland, OH. The first phase was completed in August 2000 and includes eight Rad-Con hydrogen annealing bases.

When completed, the 20-base facility will produce 360,000 ton/year of commercial, drawing, and physical quality sheet steel grades. Complete information system automation is being supplied by Rad-Con through Entec Systems International, including on-line thermal modeling and coil scheduling optimization.
