These are busy and buoyant times for Umeco, the international provider of supply-chain services and advanced composite materials, primarily to the aerospace, defence and automotive sectors. Chief executive Clive Snowdon says that the business has benefited from positive trends in commercial aerospace, in particular. Western airlines have been starting to replace their older fleets, low-cost carriers have been buying more aircraft, and emerging eastern economies, such as China and India, have also also been driving demand (as airlines in these countries currently have comparatively small aircraft fleets).
