Apace is an unusual mixture of UK and Balkan businesses. At home, it's headed by compilation CD producer Apace Music, which sold 1.1m units last year. There's also Pro-Active, which produces sports programmes (particularly rugby), and fast-growing independent programme producer Steadfast, which produced Sky Cops and IdentityTheft for BBC One, as well as Last Chance Driving School for ITV1.

In addition, since January 2006 Apace has acquired two-thirds of seven Bulgarian cable and satellite television channels and a similar percentage of the leading Albanian language channel in Macedonia. These deals were then followed this February by a joint venture with...
