Emap, the media mini-conglomerate, has sold its Republic of Ireland radio stations to Irish and European radio group Communicorp for GBP135m. This significantly exceeded broker Citigroup's forecast GBP100m sale price. The move follows SMG's proposed flotation of Virgin Radio and Chrysalis's sale of its radio assets to Global Radio.

But Emap's disposal does not suggest that the listed UK media companies are exiting the ailing commercial radio sector lock, stock and barrel.
