Caution prevails ahead of Wall Street open Jonas Crosland
Early volatility has given way to uncertainty in London as investors await the start of trading on Wall Street. Some bounce is expected after yesterday's dismal performance, with expectations centring on an initial 50 point rebound in the Dow. Before then, investors will have US second quarter GDP figures to digest, with analysts expecting a rise of 3.2 per cent. Back in London, the FTSE 100 index was 18.9 points higher at 6,270.1 while the FTSE250 index was up 57 points at 11,090. Volume was brisk at GBP1.58bn.
