Cable & Wireless continues to write its own recovery story. John Pluthero, executive chairman of the Europe, Asia and US (EAU) division, trumpeted an inflection point in sales at home - only to reveal that the projected sales growth was from GBP998m in the second half of last year to GBP1bn in the rest of this year. Even so, Mr Pluthero says this signals "an end to our recovery phase" - just in time for him to take over control of the international business from the ousted Harris Jones.
