Electrocomponents boasts a widely spread international business that's delivering decent growth. Chris Needham
Growth progress in all of the group's regions, as well as decent cost controls, meant solid top-line sales growth for component distributor Electrocomponents, although a weak US dollar and possible global macroeconomic misery remain threats.
Strong sales growth in North America during the period was hit by translation effects into sterling - reflecting the weak dollar. But it is the international business, rather than a single region, that has become the engine of the group's growth. Indeed, the international side grew sales 11 per cent in the period, compared to just 2 per cent sales growth in the UK.
