Imaging technologist OMG's sparkling results enable accelerated investment in new ventures Tim Bradshaw
Much of the excitement around OMG is its early-stage ventures into detailed street mapping (Yotta DCL) and the defence applications of its camera-tracking technology, 2d3. But these forecast-busting results demonstrated the continuing strength of its core motion-capture business, Vicon. Two years ago, OMG sold 200 cameras to the computer animators behind the eerily realistic Beowulf, which just hit cinemas. It was a very big deal back then, but OMG has already sold almost 1,000 of its latest "F series" camera since its April release.
So Vicon's revenues grew 21 per cent at constant currency, and even with the weak dollar, that allowed OMG to pour...
