Shires shares have plummeted after high-profile brokers downgrade them on concerns customers aren't switching to its new ADHD drug, Vyvanse Richard Hemming

First it was US-based broker Sanford C. Bernstein, then it was Goldman Sachs. Shire's share price has fallen off a cliff after the high profile broker downgrades, declining by over 20 per cent in the past 20 trading days.

There is increasing nervousness that Shire is not managing to switch as many customers as it had hoped for into its new attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) treatment, Vyvanse, prior to the advent of Adderall XR generics coming on to the market in April 2009. Sales of Adderall XR are expected to comprise about 40 per cent of Shire's GBP2.4bn total sales in 2007. So...
