RESULT: Times are tough for RPC, Europe's biggest packaging specialist, but the cash keeps rolling in
Times are tough for makers of rigid plastic packaging, buffeted in the first half of the year by high raw materials costs, and in the second by the global recession. Even so, the market took heart from RPC's ability to generate cash and its shares climbed nearly 5 per cent after these results.
Around 56 per cent of RPC's products are used in defensive areas like food packaging for supermarkets. This was reflected in a steady performance for RPC's thermoforming division which supplies packaging for fruit.
