Industrial Safety & Hygiene News, January, 2004

The American Heart Association has joined with OSHA to reduce death and disability from heart disease and stroke in the workplace.

The formal alliance, announced in November, calls for both organizations to share best practices and technical knowledge on the prevention, management of risk factors, recognition of warning signs, and actions for early treatment related to heart disease and stroke.

OSHA and the AHA will develop training and education programs on automated external defibrillator (AED) programs, including key elements, system designs and best practices. Guidance on employee wellness will be developed for training programs.
