The budgeting process has undergone a revolution in accounting terms in recent years and the change is not over yet. And, many would argue very successfully, the change is long overdue. As far back as February 2000, a survey that software house Comshare carried out at the ICAEW's annual conference on budgeting showed that 94% of senior finance professionals were frustrated with their organisation's current budgeting processes.
