The National Energy Technology Laboratory is planning four solicitations with a release date close to the end of January 2005. Research and development (R&D) proposals will be requested in the following natural gas areas: Gas Hydrates-to increase the understanding of their role in the environment and the potential of methane hydrates as a future energy resource; Advanced Diagnostic and Imaging Systems-to develop new exploration and development tools and technologies; Drilling, Completion and Stimulation-to drill into unconventional, more complex, deeper, harsher and lower-quality reservoirs; and Liquefied Natural Gas-to address anticipated issues as liquefied natural gas importation and use increases in the future.
