Galderma Laboratories, L.P., announced that Pliaglis[TM] Cream, a cream-to-peel topical anesthetic, is now available nationwide for patients receiving in-office superficial dermatologic procedures. Pliaglis Cream is the first and only anesthetic cream with 7% lidocaine and 7% tetracaine--the highest concentration of active topical anesthetic ingredients approved by the FDA.

Previously published research suggests that lidocaine provides rapid onset of action, and tetracaine may provide a prolonged effect, which allows it to last through the procedure and may help control post-procedural discomfort. The self-occluding delivery system eliminates the need for occlusive wraps. Since the cream does not run or move after application, it also allows physicians more control with less waste. Pliaglis Cream is ideal for contoured skin surface areas offering medical professionals versatility for a range of superficial dermatologic procedures, and facilitating a transition from anesthesia to the procedure.
