Skin care system is an effective complement to facial rejuvenation procedures

Dermatology Nursing, August, 2008

Obagi Medical Products, Inc., a leader in topical aesthetic and therapeutic skin health systems, announced the results of a wide-ranging investigator assessment study on the effects of its Condition & Enhance System on facial rejuvenation procedures at the 66th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in San Antonio. The data show that the 4% hydroquinone-based system in combination with common non-surgical and surgical facial rejuvenation procedures improved overall skin quality in up to 80% of subjects.

As rated by investigators, 83% of patients treated with the Condition & Enhance System and botulinum toxin type A injections (Botox[R]) experienced a one-grade improvement (from moderate to mild or mild to none) in hyperpigmentation. Additionally, 33% of subjects achieved a two-grade improvement (from severe to mild or moderate to none) in this type of sun damage-related discoloration. Similar levels of improvement were also seen in tactile roughness and sallowness. These results are independent of the effects of botulinum toxin type A, therefore supporting the benefit of using the Condition & Enhance System to provide a more balanced overall aesthetic result.
