Watson Wyatt Worldwide and the Washington Business Group on Health surveyed 252 companies representing 4 million employees and found that 43% claim to have set up long-term relationships with health plans. Industry observers feel that such multi-year relationships with healthcare providers are becoming increasingly important to maintain quality care. One Wyatt consultant said that healthcare suppliers are not apt to invest significantly in clients that have not locked in long-term arrangements.
