COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus' Children's Hospital will spend $740 million on a seven-year project to replace its 346-bed hospital, add two buildings for research and clinics and expand faculty office space. Construction on a diagnostic- and specialty-services building is set to begin in 2006. Construction on the hospital and research building will start in 2008. The hospital, scheduled for completion in 2011, will have an estimated 400 beds, a spokeswoman said. The existing hospital will be renovated for faculty offices and educational space. Officials plan to finance the project through bonds, philanthropy and revenue.
