One large health system announced it had a new top executive last week, while another will begin the search for a successor to a leader who will become chairman of its board. Aurora Health Care, Milwaukee, named primary-care physician Nick Turkal to succeed the 12-hospital system's founding president and chief executive officer G. Edwin Howe.

And Ronald Ashworth will step down next year as top executive of Sisters of Mercy Health System, St. Louis, but will remain with the Roman Catholic system, becoming board chairman.
