LOS ANGELES-A $150 million, 146-bed inpatient tower was opened at USC University Hospital, giving the hospital 415 beds, said Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas. The new tower also includes 11 new operating rooms, including three dedicated to minimally invasive procedures and one with an intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging machine, which provides real-time images during surgeries. The University of Southern California sued Tenet last year in Los Angeles County Superior Court to attempt to force Tenet to sell the hospital back to the university. The lawsuit alleges that the government investigations of its business practices and its financial weakness render the company unable to operate USC University Hospital in the manner that the contract between the parties...
