The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, named David Callender, a head and neck surgeon, as its new president. Callender, 49, is currently associate vice chancellor and CEO of the University of California at Los Angeles Hospital System. He is also an adjunct professor of surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Callender will replace John Stobo, also a physician, who announced last year that he would step down this August after 10 years leading the medical school. ...
