The Breakaway Group, Denver, a consulting firm that helps healthcare providers adopt new technology and equipment, has landed the chief information officer of San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare as one of five new members for its unpaid advisory board.

Breakaway founder and Chief Executive Officer Charles Fred said that he sought people who can help the company understand the executive and clinical aspects of the marketplace, plan a financial strategy for growth-Breakaway currently has no investors-and recruit talent. The company recently announced the board has been expanded from four to nine members who are only paid travel reimbursements, Fred said.
