FTC Wins Web Case.(Brief Article)

The Federal Trade Commission's new Internet lab, which was established in September to give the agency's lawyers and investigators high-tech help, has successfully completed its first investigation. The case involved Webmasters based outside of the United States who used a ruse to misdirect Internet users to their pornographic sites.

The Webmasters copied as many as 25 million Web sites-everything from the Harvard Law Review to the Japanese Friendship Garden-and used those mirrored sites as decoys to lure innocent viewers to their x-rated boards.
