CSEAT With a View.(Computer Security Expert Assist Team)(National Institute of Standards and Technology)(Brief Article)

A new group within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been created to assist federal agencies with protecting information systems, fixing vulnerabilities, and improving critical infrastructure protection. The Computer Security Expert Assist Team, or CSEAT, which began operations in June, will also work towards creating a set of best computer practices to guide agencies toward better security.

"We've found that the agencies really don't understand what they need to do completely," says CSEAT director Kathy Lyons-Burke. "NIST's mandate is to help federal agencies in the computer security areas, and agencies are coming to us and saying they really need help."
