Security Management, March, 2002

Fargo Electronics, Inc., based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, has introduced a card printer/encoder with internal E-Card docking station and encoders to manage electronic card technologies such as ISO 7816 contact smart chips, Mifare contactless smart chips, and HID proximity cards. The docking station and encoders provide everything needed to communicate with from one to three specific types of e-card technology through a standard RS-232 interface. The printer can also be equipped with magnetic heads for ISO or JIS II magnetic stripe encoding. Users can print plastic ID cards on one or both sides with full-color dye-sublimation as well as resin thermal-transfer printing.
