Card printer/encoder. (Marketplace).

Security Management, July, 2002

The new HDP820 High Definition Printing card printer/encoder from Fargo Electronics, Inc., of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, offers high-quality printing and encoding in one step. The unit's E-Card Docking Station offers one, two, or three e-card encoders to manage ISO 7816 contact smart chips (read and write), Mifare contactless smart chips (read and write), and HID proximity cards (read only). It can also be equipped with magnetic heads for ISO or JIS II magnetic stripe encoding. After encoding, users can print plastic ID cards on one or both sides in one pass. Graphics and text are sealed within the surface of the card to make them virtually tamperproof and more resistant to abrasion.
