Port security progress report.(Intelligence)

MORE THAN $10 billion has been spent on port security by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the last few years, according to DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff. That number includes grants to specific ports, equipment deployed at various ports, as well as funding earmarked for programs under the U. S. Coast Guard and U. S. Customs and Border Protection, said Chertoff in a speech be fore the American Association of Port Authorities, an alliance of the ports in Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States.
