FLORIDA TREND has written a lot about water in Florida for the past several years, and some of that professional focus spilled over into a personal trip I made this summer to Bermuda. Just 20 square miles, Bermuda is the visible fringe of an extinct, submerged volcano in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean about 650 miles due east of North Carolina. One of the many interesting things about the place is that there is almost no supply of fresh water aside from what falls from the sky--50 inches a year, about the same rainfall that many parts of Florida receive.
