BBC World to create in-house Euro sales setup.

[London] BBC World will create its own sales operation across Europe, in line with the global strategy of taking direct control of all areas of its business. Ad sales and sponsorship previously were handled under contract by IP Network-TSMS. Jonathan Howlett, director of airtime sales, and a team of account directors here will take direct control of the European business.

Mr. Howlett said additional appointments will be made. BBC World, the British Broadcasting Corp.'s 24-hour international news and information TV channel, is available in nearly 60 million homes in 187 territories.
