OPERATORS EVALUATE GREEK OPPORTUNITY.(Company Business and Marketing)

Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia are among the favourites to acquire a stake in Greek incumbent operator, OTE. The Greek government hopes that the tender will attract sufficient interest, in spite of the fact that many operators may be short of cash following the UMTS auctions. The Greek government plans to sell up to 20 percent of the company, but hopes to maintain control in terms of the day-to-day operations. It remains to be seen how much interest the tender is likely to generate.
