`Glee' Fox

Media buyers couldn't stop singing the praises of this musical drama, which mixes elements of "Freaks and Geeks'' with "High School Musical.'' Fox ran the first episode of the show last week after "American Idol'' and will pair it with "So You Think You Can Dance'' in the fall.

`Modern Family' ABC

Shot documentary-style a la "The Office,'' this sitcom is smarter and more sophisticated than others in the genre. ABC screened the entire pilot and had the room cheering. The show's part of a block of new Wednesday-night comedies that were well-received.

`NCIS: Los Angeles' CBS

It would be nice to see CBS make a success out of one of the quirky programs ("Love Monkey,'' "Swingtown'') it's tried...
