THE PRESENT AND future state of gaming looks a little bit like, well, the past, explained Kevin Slavin, managing director and co-founder of Area/Code, which designs and develops games that bounce across multiple media channels, often to great success. Recently, the company extended A&E's "Parking Wars'' program into a Facebook-based game, in addition to games such as "SharkRunners'' for the Discovery Channel, which used live shark GPS data, and "Backchannel'' for MTV, a competitive chat-room game tied to reality series "The Hills.''
